Institut Pascal, Lapsco and Limos with the Michelin Group created Factolab, a public-private laboratory dedicated to the industry of the future.
This initiative reinforces the partnerships between public research players and the Michelin Group in Clermont-Ferrand, in particular through the LabEx IMobS3, which brings together the skills of seven academic laboratories on the subject of innovative mobility of people, goods and machines.
FactoLab supports a medium- and long-term research and development program on human-machine cooperation, particularly in the fields of co-robotics (collaborative robots) and new digital technologies. The aim is to develop robots and devices connected to the service of production operators, in order to eliminate hard or stressful tasks and to improve working comfort. This program will extend and amplify the first experiments realised in the factory of Cholet in France and Valladolid in Spain. The first results are positive.
For the Michelin Group, the creation of FactoLab is a part of a very active partnership strategy developed over several years to amplify the Group's strength and the speed of innovation. For the three public laboratories partners, Factolab allows to enrich the cooperations engaged in the LabEx IMobS3 by a strategic framework and the support of a group with an international visibility.
